New Directions looking good
I’m pretty sure you’ve all heard of the Glee club. Even though there is not one in our school, it is portrayed in enough teen movies for people to at least get the basics of it, but it is never the center of a movie. Fox network took a leap, though, and decided to make an entire TV Series for it. And the viewers made it one of the most awaited TV series for this fall; as about 15 million people tuned into watch the pilot episode.
Glee, even though it was only the pilot episode, was very well put together with a plot that seemed to just flow. It was funny, quirky, and at the same time touched down on deeper subjects than people would assume when seeing the brightly colored commercials. In just the first episode of Glee you learn who you’re going to hate, love, laugh at, cry for, and just want to watch every week; but you’re still going to want to watch the rest of the season. I know where I’ll be when Glee airs for the first time.
The downfalls of Glee were very few and far between. The first was that the episode was very jumpy. You were almost expected to understand what was going on with all the characters before you had even seen the show. Another down fall was how the people magically became so very practiced at the end of the show, and how that makes the one guy want to come back. It was sort of a far stretch, and I believe the director should have put at least something about how they were practicing in there.
Despite the fact that it was jumpy and sort of had a magical ending, I still liked the show. It was a genius move to make an entire series about glee club, and it took a man with a lot of imagination to make it all work. Even though it was a cruel move to only give us a taste of it. I hope that the rest of the season is going to be as good as the pilot.
(Though I shouldn’t doubt it because even the previews looked good)
Rating: B+
